Open air: one-of-a-kind venues
In summer, many tours play places that exist only once: palace courtyards, cathedral squares, parks or right by a lake. That makes the night special – and the planning a little different from an arena show. One example is Sting's 2027 tour with eight open-air shows in Germany.
Camping or hotel?
At multi-day festivals, camping is often part of the experience. If you prefer a bed, book a hotel or holiday flat nearby early – rooms around big festivals go fast. For single open-air shows, staying overnight almost always pays off, as few trains run after the concert.
Weather, bags, getting home
Open-air shows usually go ahead in any weather: bring a rain poncho, not an umbrella. Many promoters only allow small bags. Check your way home in advance – far fewer trains run from smaller towns after 10 pm.
